Trip Overview

This blog will follow two totally inexperienced bikepackers, Geoff and Cam, and their journey from Banff to Mexico via the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. The route follows the Continental Divide, exposing riders to high altitude, diverse wildlife, and solitude. To learn more about the route, check this out. Randy will be the official bookie so get in touch with him if you'd like to place a wager on how far we will actually make it.

In the mean time, you can track our progress here thanks to our SPOT device.

This will be a site where we will try our best to post some pictures and stories along the way. Happy reading!

Day 3 - M.o.N BC to Fernie

Storms blasted us all night so we awoke to a pretty wet campsite.  This was also our first night of true back country camping so it was interesting learning how to properly cache our food/gear and be bear safe. It was a pretty messy day but we ended up making it to Fernie through tough headwinds and occasional rain.

If we didn't know any better, BC seemed like an area riddled with shotgun blasted road signs, mobile homes, and mines. Guess we got an interesting corner of the province.

Great picture of the largest truck in the entire universe.  Sparwood loves coal. Sparwood: "Yours and Mine"

made it.
